Be strong and courageous

” The Lord called Joshua to be strong and courageous. Courage is confidence in action, making choices and taking action in spite of the fear that threatens to hold us back. Courage flows from confidence in who God is and an awareness of His call on our lives. It flows from confidence in the Lord’s presence and promises. Where do you need to act courageously?

“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them “—Joshua 1:5-6

“I am strong, vigorous, and very courageous.  I am not afraid, neither am I dismayed, for the Lord my God is with me wherever I go” – Joshua 1:9

“I am strong and courageous.  I am not afraid or discouraged, because the Lord my God is with me to help me fight my battles.” – 2 Chronciles 32:7-8

“I am standing firm, letting nothing move me.  I give myself fully to the work of the Lord, because I know that my labour in the Lord in not in vain” – 1 Corinthians 15:58

We all go through times when things just seem so hard and difficult with no end in site.

Prayer: Lord, You call me to exchange fear for confidence. You have promised that I can be confident in You. Let my life, like Moses’ and Joshua’s lives, prove Your promise. Let my confidence in You come to life in courageous action today. I ask in Jesus’ name, amen.

Courage has many faces. Sometimes courage and bravery looks like fearlessness; sometimes it looks like waiting patiently; sometimes it is reflected in humble obedience. Jesus courageously faced the cross; Mary courageously watched her Son suffer; the women courageously went to anoint His body. Always God-honoring courage is motivated by love. How is God calling you to live bravely and courageously today?

“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. “—Psalm 27:14 NLT
